Are your chairs 100% leather? Yes. Many manufacturers scrimp on leather by covering chair backs and sides with PVC. The problem with this technique is that the two materials don't age the same way, so you end up with a two-tone chair over time. Loftgoods covers the entire chair with leather, and still our prices are competitive with the leather/PVC manufacturers.
What is bicast leather? This is a process that has become very popular for its distressed, weathered look. Essentially, bi-cast marries leather to a protective coating that also creates a subtle color shift when the leather is stretched.
When I got my chair the color seemed a bit different from what I saw on my computer. Why? We are very demanding with our leather supplier about color consistency. But, leather is a natural product and there is no avoiding subtle color differences from dye lot to dye lot. Loftgoods' quality control inspects each leather shipment and grades the color to ensure it falls within an acceptable range. Any leather outside that range is rejected. However, it is entirely possible that the leather you receive could differ (slightly darker or lighter) from the leather that was photographed for this web site. In addition, not all computer monitors display color in the same way. Color calibrated computer monitors are very expensive and usually require specialized setup and calibration.
Can I get leather swatches? You can. Contact customer service and ask for the leather colors you would like and we will ship a small swatch. But remember, as mentioned above, every dye lot can vary a little.
If I don't like the chair, can I return it? You can, but certain restrictions apply. We want you to be happy with you new chair. However, you should be aware of our return policy and your responsibilities. You can read our returns policy by clicking here.
My recline bar is very tight against the arm. Can I adjust it?Occasionally in shipping the recline bar will get out of alignment. Gently pull it back so that it operates freely. Just don't exert too much muscle on it.
What do all the numbers in the dimensions mean? Seat width, length, height and depth measurements are taken from inside the arms and seat back of an assembled chair. This tells you how much there is for the occupant. Chair width, height, depth measurements are overall measurements and tell you how much space the chair will take up in your room.
Are the legs removable and what are they made of? Yes, the chair ships with legs removed. But they screw in simply with no tools required. All Loftgoods chair legs are solid hardwood, stained and finished.
How do I care for the chair? The recline mechanism can use an occasional squirt from a lubricant like WD40. Simply apply the lubricant to a clean, lint-free cloth and rub it into moving parts. For information on product care and cleaning, check here.
